Abstract
An approximate method is proposed for calculating the electrical field in the channel of an MHD generator having cylindrical electrodes protruding into the flow. Expressions are given for the coefficients of the matrix of the intrinsic and mutual resistances. It is shown that, with protrusion of the electrodes into the flow, the internal resistance rises due to the circulation of a Hall current and that, near electrodes with small dimensions, there is a drop in the voltage due to a constriction of the current.
