Abstract
The singular (det M=0) Majorana neutrino mass submatrix, advocated by Glashow, is given a minimal U(1)Lepton+Axial realization, Stemming from the Fritzsch-like universality of the Dirac mass matrix, a detailed Dirac/Majorana interplay is derived. The identification vSimpson ≡ vτ cannot tolerate an arbitrarily small mVe mVμ mass ratio. The mass hierarchy mvτ ≪ mτ is correlated with me ≪ mτ. The solar neutrino mass scale mMSW≤m2μ M (rather than = m2vτ M) points towards M ≤ 1010 GeV (the corresponding vτ-lifetime ≤ 10-3 ( M mw)2s), thus suggesting a possible link with axion physics.
