Abstract

Injection of ¹⁴C Δ¹ tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) into male rhesus monkeys gave rise to a complex mixture of urinary metabolites. One of these has been isolated and identified as cannabinol 7 oic acid. This finding suggests a new metabolic pathway for Δ¹ THC and raises the possibility that other cannabinol derivatives may also be formed at earlier stages.
