Abstract
Coupling between two triangular-wave oscillators is studied. The investigation is carried out both analytically and by a digital computer simulation. The mode of coupling chosen for the system and the unusual structure of the oscillators make it posible enable a completely closed evaluation of the system dynamics without approximations. Conditions that allow synchronized operation of the system and conditions for mutually modulated unsynchronized oscillations are presented. The analytical treatment is simplified by using a specially devised trigonometry, called triangular trigonometry, whose angles are defined on a square and not on a circle. The results of the analysis and simulation are closely related to those obtained previously by the authors for a system of coupled sinusoidal oscillators and for a system of coupled multivibrators. A common superstructure of all these systems is identified. Some attention is given to a possible relationship of the present system to natural oscillator systems.
