Abstract

The diagnosis of carcinoma of the rectum during pregnancy is rarely made. Only 155 cases have been reported in the entire literature. The signs and symptoms of carcinoma of the rectum are similar to the regular complaints of pregnancy, which makes the diagnosis difficult in this condition in which early diagnosis and treatment are curative. The guiding line in treatment is early resection of the cancer with only secondary consideration for the pregnancy. An unusual case of carcinoma of the rectum, diagnosed during the 8 mth of pregnancy because of vaginal discharge of feces, is presented.
