Abstract

We report here the growth and the second harmonic generation (SHG) of 532 nm using KNbO3 non-linear crystal. The KNbO3 samples were grown by top nucleated floating crystal (TNFC) method, which provides stress and strain-free, as well as nearly single domain crystals. The intracavity SHG at 532 nm, with beam quality of M2 ≈ 1.2, was demonstrated in a passively Q-switched, diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser system. We characterized the repetitive modulation performance of the Nd:YAG/Cr4+:YAG/KNbO 3 laser system. We found that the repetition rate and the pulsewidth of the 532 nm depend on the pumping power level, ranging from 5 to 38 kHz and from 21 to 9.4 ns, respectively.
