Chemical Neuromodulation of Host Behavior by Neurotoxins Injected by a Predator

Abstract

The parasitoid wasp A. compressa injects a venom cocktail
directly into the head ganglia of its prey, the cockroach P.
americana. After being stung, the cockroach enters a long lasting state during which its spontaneous activity is
dramatically reduced and it is unresponsive to tactile or
wind stimuli.
