Abstract

In this research a correlation of mechanical deformation and superficial electrochemical properties of samples on the basis of magnesium alloy with and without a coating is revealed. An original measurement technique combining methods of destructive and nondestructive control was used for the study of electrochemical properties. During these studies we have found a correlation of corrosion properties of magnesium alloys with the surface microstructure and processing conditions. This work offers new methods of using coatings to improve mechanical stability of magnesium alloys in active environments.
