Abstract

Viral infections are one of the most contagious and deadly in the world. This has resulted in high rate of morbidity and mortality, which has had a significant negative impact on the socioeconomy of the world. Several therapeutic methods are developed to treat viral infections. Viral infections are a major public health concern, especially because of resistant viral strains and side effects associated with long-term antiviral therapy. Continuous usage of antiviral treatments may decrease their efficacy. The drawbacks of monotherapy and antiviral drug resistance are overcome by combination drug delivery. It is a promising approach for the treatment of viral infections. This drug-delivery system enhances the therapeutic activity and reduces the recovery time. There are few drawbacks in combination drug delivery, such as lack of target specificity, fast degradation of drugs, etc., which can be overcome by using nanocarriers. Nanocarriers play an important role in the combination drug-delivery system. In this chapter, we will discuss how combination drug delivery works on various viral infections like respiratory viral infections, viral skin infections, viral food poisoning, etc. and also discuss about various approaches and scope of combination drug delivery for viral infections.
