Abstract

The effect of unidirectional TMS is limited to neurons that are parallel to the induced electric field. With rotational field TMS (rfTMS), two orthogonal coils are operated with a 90° phase shift between them. The electric field vector is circularly polarized and rotates affecting neurons in various orientations.
