Abstract
A method of dealing with many particle resonances, first suggested by Lovelace, is here applied to a system of three structureless α particles, interacting via s wave rank one separable potential. The parameters of the interaction were given the values which led Harrington to predict a 12.8 MeV binding energy for the 12C ground state. A 1- resonance was found at E0- iΛ 2=2.071-0.05i which is comparable with the experimental one at E0- 1Λ 2=2.225-0.015i. The wave function of the resonance is defined and computed in configuration space.
