Abstract

An algorithm based on long-term prediction (LTP) compression has been developed for coding electrocardiograph (ECG) signals. The multichannel (MC)-LTP algorithm compresses PQRST beats using a pattern codebook with typical beats. It has been applied to part of the MIT-BIH database and was compared with three other compression algorithms, namely, AZTEC, SAPA, and LTP. Results of the numerical study demonstrate the superiority of the MC-LTP algorithm.
