N2 - Starting from a realistic hamiltonian describing the system of three nucleons and a pion, we have derived for the first time a set of integral equations for the coupled πNNN-NNN system. Specifically, the disconnected structure originating from the explicit consideration of the absorption and emission of the pion by nucleons, which is outside the scope of the ordinary many-body potential scattering theories, has been carefully studied. The final equations thus found, have connected kernels, respect time-reversal invariance and should allow one to study various processes like 3He-π± elastic scattering, pd → 3He-π-, pd → NNN etc. in a unified and unitary manner.
