Abstract

Naval Al UNS A95052 combines high mechanical properties, light weight, and improved corrosion resistance, making it a suitable material for construction of military and civil river and seagoing vessels used by navies of many nations. The corrosion resistance is based on the presence of an Al2 O film formed by reaction with the seawater DO, as shown by the EDX elemental analysis and the potentiodynamic polarization plots.
