Cultural and gender-sensitive community development: Interview of Amal Elsana Alhjooj, director of AJEEC

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Because the people weren't partners in the construction and changing of their reality. [...] in order for community development and change to take place, with a real improvement in the situation, one must change the attitude of the people themselves to their reality. [...] community change means a change in the attitudes of the people toward their reality and not only a change in the reality in which they live. [...] the women went through a process from being powerless to being productive and entitled, as well as activists.
