Abstract

A very high frequency vector sensor antenna is designed and implemented. The antenna is used to estimate the angle of arrival in azimuth and elevation of an incident electromagnetic signal by measuring its electric and magnetic field Cartesian components. The Cramer-Rao lower bound is used for the analysis of the antenna's angle of arrival estimation performance. Furthermore, it is shown that the performance is highly affected by the presence of a conductive platform in close vicinity of the antenna.
