Abstract

The characterization and the design of crystalline thin films at the air-liquid interfaces were discussed. Three different types of ordered films at the air-interface were examined. The method developed for the elucidation of the molecular ordering at interfaces used the crystalline monolayers of amphiphilic molecules on aqueous solution to induce nucleation of solute molecules into three-dimesional crystals at the air-solution interface.
