Abstract
Summary form only given. The design of a multiwave Cerenkov generator (MWCG) is presented. The MWCG consists of two sections of corrugated waveguide connected by a short drift section, each stage possessing identical corrugation amplitude and period. The device has been designed to be driven by an 800-keV, 100-ns-duration pulse line accelerator and is expected to produce 1-5 GW of microwave radiation at a frequency of 6 GHz. Critical issues such as beam generation and transport, power handling considerations, mode competition, and diagnostics have been examined.
