Desquamative interstitial pneumonitis causing acute respiratory failure, responsive only to immunosuppressants

Abstract

We present a case of a 66-year-old man who suffered from acute respiratory failure due to desquamative interstitial pneumonia. The pneumonitis was resistant to steroids, but responded promptly to cyclophos phamide, with immediate relapse upon withdrawal of the durg.
