Abstract
A simple method for the determination of the energetic parameters of the T(d,n)**4He neutron beam from a solid titanium-tritium target is described. The energetic parameters under consideration are: the value of the neutron energy, the neutron energy spread in the beam, the mean deuteron interacting energy, and/or the mean deuteron energy loss in the target. The proposed method is based on an accurate measurement of the energy and the full-width at half-maximum of the T(d,n)**4He neutron beam. The measurements are made at the angle under consideration and at 95 deg as a reference angle of the neutron direction relative to the deuteron beam direction. The parameters are obtained by a comparison between the measured results at these two angles.
