Abstract

The optimal one-period touring problem with identical starting and terminal points is determined, with the objective to maximize the total attractiveness of the tour, i.e., to find the set of sites to be visited and routes to be travelled given constraints on touring time, cost and/or total distance travelled and the geographic frame considerations. A one-period linear integerprogramming model was developed to derive an optimal round-trip tourist bus tour solution. The model has been applied to a real life problem generating numerical results.
