Determination of the crystal structure of U6Fe 5Al8Si9 by electron crystallography

Abstract

The crystal structure of U6Fe5Al8Si 9 was re-determined by electron crystallography, using selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and high resolution (HRTEM) images, taken along the [0 0 1] direction. The obtained results are very similar to those found previously by X-ray powder diffraction. The differences between the atomic positions found by SAED and HRTEM images and those found by X-ray powder diffraction were 0.11 and 0.08 Å, respectively.
