Abstract

Muography (Muon radiography or tomography) is an imaging technique based on the absorption or scattering of atmospheric muons. At NISER, a muon telescope is being developed for muography applications using resistive plate chambers (RPC) as the tracking detectors. RPCs with bakelite electrodes are constructed with and without a linseed oil coating to the inner sides of the electrodes. In this contribution, the performance studies of these RPCs are reported. Linseed oil coated RPC drew lower currents compared to the one without linseed oil coating. Both the RPCs showed >90% efficiency for cosmic-ray muon detection.
