Abstract

A novel method is presented for scattering by cylinders uniformly moving in free-space. The method is based on the application of differential-operators to the rest-state scattered waves. This method is applicable to any solution of the Helmholtz wave equation expressed in terms of a separable coordinate-system, in particular it is demonstrated here for circular and elliptical wave-functions. The analysis applies to arbitrary cylindrical geometries and is based on plane-wave representations which facilitate simple and compact formulas.
