Abstract
Intense diffuse streaking accompanying the α→ω transformation in a pressurized Zr2Mo alloy was observed in selected areas diffraction patterns. The diffuse streaking was related to the {12̄10}α planes of diffuse intensity in reciprocal space. These planes of diffuse intensity are due to the pressure induced short-ranee correlated displacements of 〈1-210〉α, atomic rows in the α-matrix along 〈12̄10〉I directions. The observed effect substantiates the mechanism proposed by the authors for the α → ω transition emphasizing the similarity ofβ→ω and α→ω diffusionless transformation.
