Abstract
A method of thermodynamic analysis of the four-component system Fe-Me-Cl-H (Me equals Cr, Mn, Ni) is developed. A thermodynamic analysis is made of the processes of diffusion alloying of iron with nickel, chromium and manganese through a chloride phase. Diagrams of the stability of chloride phases in equilibrium with a metal solution are constructed. The compositions of the gaseous phase and the solid solution which ensure transport of the alloying elements through the chloride phase are determined. In addition, the preferential direction of transport of alloying elements during diffusion saturation of iron is determined.
