Abstract

A convenient two-step synthesis of mononitro and dinitro derivatives of the title compounds is reported. The Michael type addition of aromatic amines to 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone, is followed by mixed acids nitration to yield nitro aromatic quinones hard to get or unattainable before.
