Abstract

In Israel, the Ministry of Health's Nursing Division, the regulating authority for the nursing profession, is responsible for every nurse's professional competence and fitness to practice. Disciplinary proceedings in the Israeli nursing profession are similar to those in other health care professions. The primary aim of the proceedings is to maintain levels of professional competence and ethics. However, to date, no Israeli publication has reported the findings on formal complaints against nurses, physicians, or other health care staff members in Israel. This article reviews the disciplinary decisions of the last decade and examines the sentencing policies of the Ministry of Health regarding the nursing profession.
