Abstract

1. The nucleophilic addition reaction of triorganylsilylalkanethiols to divinyl sulfoxide leads to the formation of vinyl β-(triorganylsilylalkylthio)ethyl sulfoxides. The latter, as the result of thermal dissociation are transformed into vinyl triorganylsilylalkyl sulfides (the indirect vinylation reaction). 2. The nucleophilic reaction of triorganylsilylalkanethiols with divinyl sulfoxide is accompanied by a side oxidation- reduction process and a thiylation reaction, leading to the formation of vinyl β-(triorganylsilylalkylthio)ethyl sulfides, 1,1-bis(triorganylsilylalkylthio) ethanes and vinyl triorganylsilylalkyl disulfides.
