Does a Bloch electron in a constant electric field oscillate?

Abstract

The existence of the generally believed oscillations of a Bloch electron in a constant electric field have been reconsidered. It is shown that the proof based on Houston's function is incorrect and there is no reason to believe that the oscillations exist.
