Abstract
Vasovagal syncope (VVS) is the most common cause of loss of consciousness. Frequent VVSs reduce the quality of life and require drug therapy in some cases. However, the drugs tested in these patients have failed to prove effectiveness in randomized place-bo-controlled trials. This review is devoted to analysis of the most common drugs used in these patients (beta-blockers, mineralo-corticoids, alpha-adrenergic agonists and serotonin reuptake inhibitors), possible reasons of their insufficient effectiveness, as well as the prospects for development of drug therapy of VVS.
