In recent decades several scientific groups have recognized the potential of certain duckweed species as becoming a fair substitute for conventional edible protein sources. The rapid duckweed multiplication rate raised on agricultural wastes or even domestic sewage, has encouraged the authors to study and define the biotechnology of duckweed production and utilization within a modern mixed farm. The high quality and yield of the duckweed protein led to trying to substitute familiar animal protein products with duckweed. The paper discusses study materials, methods and results.
