abstract = "Samples of conventionally cast and produced by selective laser melting (SLM) AlSi10Mg alloy were tested in a series of planar impact experiment aimed at the study of dynamic yield and tensile (spall) strengths of the materials. The test show that the dynamic yield strength of SLM material is twice as high as that of the cast one while their tensile strength exceeds that of the cast material fourfold. Inspecting the spall surface of the SLM materials reveals its similarity with that of brittle ceramics while the dependence of the spall strength of SLM processed materials on the tensile strain rate is found much weaker than those of either ceramics or metals.",
