Abstract

The detoxifying effect of ascorbic acid on soybean seedlings grown on copper (Cu)-containing medium is reported. The effect was due mainly to prevention of entry of Cu into plant roots. Short term exposure of the seedlings to high concentrations of Cu in the presence of ascorbic acid did not lead to Cu toxicity signs.
