Abstract
The contribution of a P- and T-odd nucleon-nucleon force to the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the deuteron is discussed in view of recent proposals to detect macroscopic EDM in light nuclei (specifically He3). In the Kobayashi-Maskawa model of CP violation the EDM of the deuteron exceeds the EDM of the neutron by 23 orders of magnitude. Such an enhancement is not found in the contribution from the term in the QCD Lagrangian.
