Abstract
A effect of sheared large-scale motions on mean electromotive force in a nonrotating turbulent flow of a conducting fluid was discussed. It was found that a contribution to the electromotive force related to the symmetric parts of the gradient tensor or the mean magnetic field was found in nonrotating turbulent flows with a mean shear. The shear-current effect was also analyzed using the τ approximation and the stochastic calculus.
