Abstract

Everhart's approach to electron backscattering from thick absorbers has been modified to include the logarithmic term in the expression for the electron stopping power. Comparison with experimental data for low Z absorbers gives good agreement with the experimentally observed dependence of the electron backscattering coefficient on electron energy. In addition, Monte Carlo calculations are presented for the angular dependence and energy spectrum of backscattered electrons from lithium fluoride and silicon.
