Abstract

The transition between electronic localized and extended states at the mobility edge is described as a special type of a "paramagnetic to spin-glass" phase transition. Renormalization group and heuristic arguments are used to discuss the critical properties of this transition. The results tentatively suggest an inhomogeneous transtion via classical percolation asymtotically close to the mobility edge.
