Abstract
Experimental cognitive psychology is based, to a large extent, on studying human performance in tasks requiring fast reactions to stimuli. Often, the experiment involves discrete trials where a target stimulus (e.g. word) is presented, the participant makes a response (reads the word) and the quality of the response as well as reaction time (RT) are recorded.
