Abstract
Two of the basic aspects involved in the growth nature of a more general planar crack, are directly relevant to the present investigation. Firstly, the mechanism of the crack growth stage, is an important factor in evaluating fracture criteria, particularly in the current case, demonstrated by an elliptical planar crack. Secondly, the expected improvement of the crack growth resistance is generally attributed to a more desirable and effective microstructure, in terms of fundamental plastic-flaw behavior.
