Abstract

A macroscopic treatment of the energy relations for quasimonochromatic fields in bianisotropic media is realized by taking into account moderate absorption and effects of temporal and spatial dispersion. It is shown that spatial dispersion in bianisotropic media provides additional power flow similar to such effects in anisotropic media. A special feature of bianisotropic media is that the energy transport of quasimonochromatic fields is defined not only by the constitutive parameters of a medium, but also by the structure of the field. The group velocity correlates with the energy transport velocity only for a certain configuration of the quasimonochromatic field.
