Abstract

Molar enthalpies of solution of LiBr, LiBr·H2O, and LiBr·2H2O, in water at 298.15 K were determined in an LKB calorimeter. The molar enthalpies of solution extrapolated to infinite dilution are ΔsolHmo(LiBr, 298.15 K) = -(48760±128) J·mol-1, ΔsolHm(LiBr·H2O, 298.15 K) = -(22581±337) J·mol-1, and ΔsolHm(LiBr·2H2O, 298.15 K) = -(8127±488) J·mol-1. To correct the results for a nonstoichiometric water content in the hydrates, several procedures were analysed and employed.
