Abstract
Enthalpies of solution of Li2SO4 and Li2SO4·H2O in water at 298.15 K were measured. The molar enthalpies of solution extrapolated to infinite dilution are ΔsolHm∞(Li2SO4, 298.15 K) = - (30502 ± 170) J·mol-1 and ΔsolHm∞(Li2SO4·H2O, 298.15 K) = - (17899 ± 152) J·mol-1. The value for the monohydrate has been calculated by assuming that the excess water in the sample over the theoretical is present as an aqueous saturated solution. There are presented preliminary specific heat capacities of lithium sulfate solutions.
