Abstract
A case of erythema multiforme following treatment with eye drops containing chloramphenicol is described. The possible role of an allergic mechanism in this reaction has been suggested by a positive mast cell degranulation (MCD) test toward the drug. Erythema multiforme is a well- known clinical and pathologic entity. Drug-induced erythema multiforme resulting from systemic drugs is weft documented. We describe a case of erythema multiforme caused by local treatment with chloramphenicol in eye drops.
