Abstract

The problem of production control under variable speeds with disturbances is introduced. Given the target amount needed, the due date and the amount produced up to a routine control point, the decision-maker determines the proper speed and the next control point so that the number of control points will be minimized. Golenko-Ginzburg and Sinuany-Stern [7,8] have suggested a heuristic algorithm to solve this problem. In this paper an analytical estimation of the number of control points is obtained under some specific assumptions.
