Abstract

The ETGAR Liquid Metal MHD Program at Ben Gurion University reached the stage of construction of a fully engineered semi-industrial pilot plant with 8KW//e power out-put at design conditions. This plant called ETGAR-3 is expected, to be ready for test during the summer of 1984. The present paper describes the concept, design parameters and upscaling of ETGAR-3. Supporting research is also reflected, especially the complete steam-mercury 0. 5kW//e facility which is used for evaluation of design alternatives of different components of the pilot plant.
