Abstract

The excess Gibbs energies of mixing at 298.15 K in fully or partially miscible water-alcohol mixtures (1-propanol, 2-propanol, 1-butanol, 2-butanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol (isobutanol), 2-methyl-2-propanol (tert. butanol), 1-pentanol, 2-pentanol, 1-hexanol, 1-heptanol, 1-octanol, 2-octanol and cyclohexanol) are reported. They were calculated from the solubility and partition data by applying the Gibbs-Duhem relationship and changing the standard state of water from water saturated with alcohols to pure water. In the 1-propanol-water, 2-propanol-water, 1-butanol-water, 2-butanol-water, 1-pentanol-water and 2-pentanol-water systems the excess entropies of mixing were also determined.
