Abstract
A convenient apparatus is described in which ceramic tubes carrying a salt rejecting layer in their surface can be tested for reverse osmosis. A simple way of preparing the ceramic thimble-tubes themselves is also given. Inorganic reverse osmosis membranes were prepared by filling the surface layer of open structured ceramic tubes with material containing pores of nearly molecular dimensions. In the course of this work a small laboratory apparatus was built which operates efficiently and could be used for work with ceramic tubes as the base for reverse osmosis membranes. This apparatus will be described in order to simplify such work.{A figure is presented} {A figure is presented}.
