Abstract

How to achieve load balancing over satellite networks is one of several difficulties during designing satellite routing strategies. Firstly, routing strategies for Non-Geostationary Earth Orbit(Non-GEO) satellite networks are classified into four categories according to the place where the routing is performed: source-based, central, distributed, and hierarchical load balancing routing. Secondly, main ideas are illustrated systematically and their advantages and disadvantages are discussed. Thirdly, several key issues about load balancing of Non-GEO satellite networks are given. Finally, some further research aspects are pointed out.
