Abstract

In the present work, we have synthesized and characterized graphene oxide and utilized to fabricate an electrochemical sensor. Electrochemically reduced graphene (ERGO) film was used for the electrochemical investigation of an antiviral drug, valganciclovir (VGCV) for the first time. The peak current was found to be enhanced significantly at ERGO film compared to that at bare GCE. Effect of accumulation time, different pH and scan rate was investigated and various electrochemical parameters were evaluated. Probable mechanism for electrooxidation was proposed based on the experimental results. A differential pulse voltammetric method was developed for the determination of VGCV in bulk and pharmaceutical formulations. Linear relationship was noticed between the peak current and concentration in the range of 15 nM -35 μM with the LOD of 3.10 nM and the LOQ of 10.33 nM. The proposed method is simple, fast and inexpensive and hence, could be readily adopted for quality control.
